Didgeridoo measurements are as following: Length 1.6m
External diameter 10cm
internal diameter 7.5cm
The cargo office has corn starch packaging available in various size bag for sale.
sizes are as following:
500 000 cubic cm $15.75
350 000 cubic cm $ 12.50
200 000 cubic cm $10.60
100 000 cubic cm $ 8.00
75 000 cubic cm $ 7.20
Calculate the smallest bag ernie requires to package has didgeridoo. Provide mathematical evidence to support your answer.
This is a bad question, as it doesn’t tell you the dimensions of the bags. The didgeridoo only need to be packaged on the outside, but the question hints that it should be stuffed with bags too because it gives the internal measurements.
Assuming the didgeridoo to be a solid cylinder, it’s volume would be (π r² l), so 502,654.4cm², so none of these bags fit.
The volume of the ’space’ in the center is 282,743.1cm² (using the same formula)
The difference is 219,911.3 cm², so I’m assuming that the 350,000cm² bag is the answer being sought here.
